Resources

Navigating how to care for a loved one can be difficult enough without having to worry about finances. Here at Freedom at Home, we strive to make the process as easy as possible! We are proud to offer many different avenues and ways to pay for your family to get the highest quality care. Our office staff are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the finance resources offered below.

  • Freedom at home is honored to partner and contract with Veteran Affairs to serve our veterans in several different ways. Veterans and their surviving spouses may be eligible for the Aid and Attendance benefit offered by the VA. This option would pay the client a certain amount to go toward in-home care services. Information regarding eligibility criteria for the A&A benefit can be found on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website. Veterans may also qualify for the HHA program. This program would allow Freedom at Home to bill directly to the VA for in-home services. The veteran must be established with the VA and have a primary care doctor through the VA as well. The veteran would need to require some level of personal care to be completed with the help of a caregiver. If you are a veteran who needs help getting established with the VA, please visit the VA website or call and speak with one of their representatives.

  • Some of our clients have a Long Term Care (LTC) or Short Term Care (STC) insurance policy that can be used to pay for our services. Navigating these policies can sometimes be challenging, so Freedom at Home offers free consultations to help get your policy information sorted out and decide the best way to get started. Some plans allow us to bill the insurance directly and some work as a reimbursement. Either way, our staff is experienced and able to help you utilize your policy to its fullest. Call us today to get started!

  • Many of our clients pay for services from their own income or savings. Freedom at Home strives to keep our rates competitive and fair for our clients. We understand that there is a lot to consider when it comes to choosing care for your family, and we do not want cost to be the deciding factor for you. We have convenient payment options to make the process easier and flexible schedules to accommodate your needs.

  • A reverse mortgage is a loan that allows homeowners who are 62 or older to borrow against the equity in their homes. This gives clients the ability to borrow against their home’s equity and have a tax-free income to utilize toward caregiving services. Clients would not have to sell their home, make monthly mortgage payments, or even give up the title to their home. The loan and interest are only repaid when the borrower sells their home, permanently moves away, or passes away. Check with your financial advisor to see if this option would be a good fit for you!

  • Some clients may like the option of getting a senior living loan. These loans can be obtained for long-term care services for up to 3 years. These loans do not require collateral to be obtained, but can instead be signed off on by family members. Check with your financial advisor to see if this option would be right for you!

  • For some chronic or terminally ill clients, viatical settlements may be an option. This is when a client sells his/her life insurance policy to a third party viatical settlement investor. The policy seller would receive a cash payout that would be more than the cash surrender value but less than the full amount of the death benefit. Check with your financial advisor to see if this would be right for you!
